Getting started with Mechanics Hub
Set your workshop up in a few minutes: business details, your first customer and job, and where everything lives.
5 min read
Mechanics Hub keeps the whole job in one place: the customer, their vehicle, the job sheet, health checks, parts, the invoice and the reminders that bring them back. This guide gets you from a fresh account to your first booked job.
You can do everything from a web browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. There is nothing to install.
First, add your business details
Your business details appear on invoices and printed health checks, so it is worth filling them in before you raise anything. Head to Business Settings and add your trading name, address, phone, email and VAT number if you are registered.
This is also where you set up messaging (your SMS sender name and email), payments and your Xero connection later on.
- Trading name, address, phone and email.
- VAT number if you are VAT registered.
- Your logo, so invoices and health checks look like yours.
- Opening hours and diary slots for scheduling.
The natural workflow
A garage does not start with an invoice, it starts with a customer and a vehicle. Mechanics Hub follows that order, and each step flows into the next so you are never retyping the same details.
- Add the customer and link their vehicle (a registration lookup fills the vehicle details for you).
- Schedule the job in the diary and work from the job sheet.
- Add a health check, parts and labour as you go.
- Create the invoice straight from the job, take payment, and the MOT or service reminder is set for next time.
